Goal

To conserve, restore and manage biodiversity whilst ensuring a clean and healthy natural environment. This will include supporting green economy initiatives, promoting sustainable social and economic development and ultimately becoming a conservation reference model for other initiatives.

Vision

The CRR is a large protected area in Gauteng, between high density developments, which strives to be a reference model for green economy and conservation of biodiversity and benefits to communities. The Grassland Stewardship Alliance - GSA (CRR’s Management Authority) is a working example of how community driven management can effectively and sustainably conserve protected areas. Accordingly the GSA aims to manage CRR’s programmes with the intention to educate landowners, learners, surrounding communities, and interested stakeholders about conservation and ecological abuse and crimes, thus encouraging compliance with NEM:PAA and municipal conservation intents, and highlighting non-compliance for action and directives from applicable local, provincial and national bodies. The main focus or project vision is to restore and rehabilitate damage to natural systems, and protect what is undamaged from eco-crime and inappropriate development in line with the NEM:PAA norms and standards. The goal is to also expand the CRR, represented by multiple landowners as custodians of irreplaceable biodiversity henc adding value to people, properties and the environmental economy.
